SIGNAGE, PRINT and DISPLAY
Done Properly – from Concept to Completion
Independent consulting and project management for signage, print and display, based in Tauranga and working right across New Zealand.
We take your idea or your problem and manage the whole process, from the first conversation through to the finished install, so you don’t have to chase suppliers, second-guess a quote, or find out about a costly mistake after it’s too late to fix.
That might be a full signage rollout across a new building, or it might just be a single flute board for your shop window, a print job you need done properly, or an install you need an extra pair of hands for. We’re just as happy with the small jobs as the big ones.
We’re not tied to one manufacturer or one product. That means our advice is based on what’s actually right for your project, not on what we happen to sell.
Why businesses bring us in
- Independent advice. We’re not a print shop or a sign-writer trying to sell you their own capacity. We work out what your project actually needs, then find the best supplier for that job.
- One point of contact. From concept and design through to production and installation, you deal with us, not five different suppliers with five different opinions.
- We spot problems before they become expensive. Twenty years in design, production and installation means we can usually see an issue coming before it turns into a costly reprint, a failed install, or a compliance headache.
- Practical, not theoretical. Our advice comes from having actually done the job, on the tools and in management, not just from a sales brochure.
Who we work with
For architects, builders and designers
We work alongside your team as the signage and display specialist you don’t have in-house. We’ll review plans, flag issues with materials, mounting or compliance before they’re built, and manage production and install so your project stays on schedule.
For marketing teams and agencies
We become an extension of your team for print, display and signage, keeping your brand consistent and your production process painless, from prepress and proofing through to the finished piece.
For businesses and organisations
New premises, an office relocation, vehicle branding, event and exhibition displays, or ongoing signage needs, we manage the detail so you get it right the first time.
For designers needing production expertise
We take your artwork and make sure it’s genuinely ready for print and production, correct colour, proofing, layout and imposition, so what comes out the other end matches what you designed.
For signage and print companies
Not every signage business is run by someone with a signage background, and a lot of owners are managing the business side without the design, production or installation experience behind it. We work alongside other signage and print companies as an independent consultant on their more complex jobs, and we’re also available as a contract installer if you need an experienced extra pair of hands on site.
What we do
Signage consulting and project management, print management and brokering, graphic design, wayfinding, vehicle graphics, building and office signage, event and exhibition displays, prepress and artwork preparation, large format print, installation contracting, and installation coordination.
No job is too small or too large. We take on single print jobs and one-off design work just as readily as full project management, and we’re available directly for install contracting if that’s all you need.
We don’t own our own print or signage machinery. That’s deliberate: it means we choose the best supplier for each job rather than pushing work through our own equipment.

About the founder

I’m Peter Hansen, founder of Kismet.NZ. I’ve spent over twenty years in the print, display and signage industry, starting on the tools with a background in graphic design, and moving up through production and project management. I’ve seen most of what can go right and wrong in a signage or print project, and I use that experience to steer clients away from expensive mistakes before they happen.
Kismet.NZ is built on that experience. When you work with us, you get a team of trusted suppliers and installers, coordinated by someone who genuinely understands design, manufacturing and installation, not just someone relaying messages between you and a factory.
Frequently asked questions
What areas does Kismet.NZ service?
We’re based in Papamoa Beach, Tauranga, and work throughout the Bay of Plenty, including Mount Maunganui, Papamoa and Te Puke. We also supply and manage work throughout New Zealand, including Waikato, Rotorua, Hamilton and Auckland.
Is Kismet.NZ a signage manufacturer or a consultant?
We’re an independent consultant and project manager. We don’t own manufacturing equipment, which means we’re free to recommend and source from whichever supplier is genuinely the best fit for your project, rather than steering you towards our own capacity.
What kind of projects do you take on?
Everything from a single banner or print run through to full office signage fit-outs, wayfinding systems, vehicle graphics, and exhibition or event displays. If it involves print, display or signage, we can advise on it or manage it.
Do you only work with big businesses?
No. We work with businesses of all sizes, from a single shop opening needing new signage, through to architects, agencies and property developers running larger projects. We’re also happy to take on a single small job, like one flute board or a one-off print run.
Do you take on installation work only, without the design or consulting?
Yes. If you already have a signage or print company and just need an experienced contractor for the install, we’re available to book directly for that.
Do you work with other signage or print companies?
Yes. A lot of signage businesses are run by people without a design, production or signage background. We consult to other signage and print companies on their more complex jobs, and are also available as a contract installer.
How is Kismet.NZ different from just calling a sign company directly?
A sign company will sell you their own product and process. We look at your whole project first, flag anything that’s likely to cause a problem, then recommend and manage the right supplier for the job, which is often a better outcome and can save you money in the long run.
